What to do when a TikTok Shop seller cuts your commission

How to spot a commission cut or a sold-out product fast, and when to move your link to another shop.

A video is still pulling views, but the money dropped off a cliff. Often the reason has nothing to do with your video: the seller lowered the commission, the price changed, or the product sold out. These changes rarely come with a loud warning, so many creators only notice weeks later.

What usually happened

  • The commission rate was lowered. Sellers can change the rate on their open collaboration offers. New orders pay the new rate.
  • The product is out of stock. Your video still gets watched, but nobody can buy, so it earns nothing.
  • The price went up. A higher price can cut how many people buy, even if your rate stays the same.
  • The listing was removed. If the product is gone from the shop, the link on your video stops working.

What you can do

  1. Check the listing from your showcase. Look at the current commission rate, the price and whether it's in stock. Compare with what you were earning per sale before.
  2. Look at your collaboration terms. If you joined through a targeted invite, its terms state the rate and how long it applies. An open plan can change.
  3. Message the seller. Many sellers will talk, especially if your videos sell well. A short, friendly note with your numbers ("my posts sold 40 of these last month") goes a long way.
  4. Find the same product from another shop. Plenty of products are sold by several shops at different rates. If another shop pays more and has stock, you can add that listing to your showcase and use it on new videos.
  5. Decide what to do with the old video. If a product is gone for good, keep the video (it still builds your account) and put your energy into a new post for a product that's live.

How to catch it sooner

The longer a cut goes unnoticed, the more sales you lose at the lower rate, or the more views go to a sold-out link. A simple weekly habit helps: open each product that's earning for you, and check rate, price and stock. If you sell lots of products, keep a short list of your top five and check those first.

It also helps to track what each shop has actually paid you per sale, not just the advertised rate. Discounts, bonuses and ad orders mean the real number can differ from the rate on the listing. See why Shop Ads orders pay less.

How Ollexio helps

Ollexio watches your showcase and the products you've sold through TikTok's official APIs, and tells you when something changes.

  • Product alerts. A notice when a product you sell changes commission, changes price, runs out of stock or comes back.
  • Stock watch. The listings you actually sell through are checked several times a day, not only the ones in your showcase.
  • Your cut, per shop. Each product page shows what each shop has paid you per sale from your own orders, and which live listing pays best.

Ollexio can't change a seller's rate. It makes sure you find out the same day, not weeks later.

One product on Ollexio: three shops selling it, what each pays per sale, stock, and orders from each shop's own ads. Seller account names blurred. From a real creator’s account.

Questions creators ask

Can a TikTok Shop seller change my commission rate?

Yes. Sellers can change the rate on their open collaboration offers. A targeted invite you accepted states its own terms, so check those first.

Do I lose sales I already made when the rate changes?

Orders keep the rate that applied when they were placed, so a cut affects sales from then on, not ones you've already made.

What happens to my video if the product sells out?

The video keeps getting views, but nobody can buy, so it earns nothing until the product is back in stock. If another shop sells the same product, switching the link can save the post.
